Job Title: Chief People Officer

City St George's, University of London is seeking a visionary leader to join its Senior Leadership Team as Chief People Officer. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the organization by developing and implementing a comprehensive people management strategy that drives employee engagement, well-being, and retention.

About the Role

The Chief People Officer will be responsible for leading a directorate of over 60 colleagues, encompassing strategic leadership around culture, employee engagement, and staff development. This role requires a deep understanding of contemporary people-oriented leadership and the ability to articulate a clear vision for a world-class people function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a people management strategy that aligns with the University's overall goals and objectives
  • Lead the development and delivery of employee engagement and well-being initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to drive cultural transformation and organizational change
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the People Directorate
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including staff, students, and external partners
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably in a higher education or similar sector
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies, including equality, diversity, and inclusion
