About the Role

We are seeking a Religious Visitor to join our Chaplaincy Team at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre. The post holder will work across both sites on a part-time basis, providing weekend cover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral care and support to residents and staff, promoting a sense of hope and direction.
  • Offer faith advice and support the establishment in ensuring faith groups observe their religious holy days and festivals.
  • Acquire and distribute appropriate religious literature, supplies, and materials.
  • Facilitate faith-specific services and attend chaplaincy-specific meetings and forums.
  • Work closely with Security and Safer Custody to ensure issues such as Suicide and Self-Harm and Violence Reduction are delivered in line with the DSO's.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings, including Safer Custody, Security, and Wing forum.
  • Maintain chaplaincy facilities and equipment to the required standard.

Requirements

  • Experience in delivering religious services of own faith, ideally in a custodial environment.
  • Innovative and forward-thinking approach.
  • Proven high-level professionalism and competence in religious service delivery.
  • Pastoral and spiritual leadership experience.
  • Working knowledge of other faiths represented within the centre.
  • Meet the specified minimum faith eligibility requirement of their faith tradition.
