Senior Building Surveyor Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join our team at Reed. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse range of high-quality building projects, with a focus on design and contract administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and provide clear direction to architectural technologists for AutoCAD output.
  • Manage project procurement through the RIBA work stages.
  • Advise clients on schemes and projects, determining requirements through feasibility studies and budget costings.
  • Prepare scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion of projects, and specifications of works.
  • Prepare documents for tender and advise on appointing contractors, designers, and procurement routes.
  • Undertake contract administration and project management.
  • Ensure projects are completed on budget and to schedule.
  • Secure capital funding from funding agencies.
  • Conduct building surveys, identify and analyse defects, including proposals for repair.
  • Advise on the management and supervision of maintenance works, including the provision of PPM schedules.
  • Process planning applications and advise clients on property legislation, including DDA, health and safety, and building regulations.
  • Carry out party wall procedures for both building owner and adjoining owner.
Requirements:
  • Proven Senior Building Surveyor experience within consultancy.
  • Experience in professional services work, fire risk assessments, and party wall surveying is beneficial.
  • Experience providing services to the public sector, ideally the education sector.
  • Well-rounded in all areas of managerial responsibility and building surveying.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A clean Enhanced DBS Check is required due to work with education clients.
