Senior Building Surveyor Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join our team at Reed. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse range of building projects, from design and contract administration to project procurement and contract administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate building projects from inception to completion
  • Ensure adherence to company processes and technical standards
  • Develop and maintain good client relationships and manage client accounts
  • Prepare fee proposals and set up projects ready for delivery
  • Seek new business opportunities and promote cross-selling across divisions/offices
  • Support the development and training of junior staff
  • Design and provide clear direction to Architectural Technologists for Auto CAD output on complex projects
  • Project procurement through the RIBA work stages
  • Advising clients on schemes and projects, determining requirements by carrying out feasibility studies and budget costings
  • Preparing scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion of projects and specification of works
  • Preparing documents for tender and advising on appointing contractors, designers and procurement routes
  • Contract administration and project management
  • Ensuring projects are completed on budget and to schedule
Requirements:
  • Proven Senior Building Surveyor experience within consultancy
  • Experience in Professional Services work, Fire Risk Assessments, and Party Wall surveying is beneficial
  • Experience providing services to the public sector, ideally the Education Sector
  • Well-rounded in all areas of managerial responsibility and building surveying
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A clean Enhanced DBS Check is required due to work with education clients
