Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist in Learning Disability Psychiatry to join our team at Swansea Bay UHB. As a Locum Consultant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients in the Swansea area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with a multi-professional team, including medical staff, nurses, social workers, and psychologists, to provide prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness.

About the Role

You will be expected to demonstrate expertise in managing acute psychiatric presentations, communicating effectively with patients and colleagues, and participating in clinical audit and research projects. Additionally, you will be required to possess strong leadership attributes and motivate others to achieve exceptional outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient care in accordance with NHS standards
  • Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to education and training programs for junior doctors and medical students
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and other healthcare professionals

Requirements

  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
  • On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
  • Appropriate Higher Degree (e.g., MD, PhD, or MSc)
  • Broad-based experience in psychiatry across sub-specialties
  • Safe and effective written and verbal communication skills

Estimated Salary: £80,000 - £110,000 per annum

This is a fixed-term position, with the length of contract to be discussed and confirmed at interview.
