About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Renal Transplant and Vascular Access Surgeon to join our team at St. George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our renal surgical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients undergoing renal transplantation and vascular access surgery.


Main Duties


The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the management and administration of the clinical service, including taking an active part in clinical work, teaching and training activities, and clinical governance activities. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing change within the renal surgical services and for contributing to the development of the renal surgical program.


Key Responsibilities



  • Taking an active part in the management and administration of the clinical service
  • Participating in clinical work, including in-patient care, out-patient clinics, and theatre sessions
  • Developing and implementing change within the renal surgical services
  • Contributing to the development of the renal surgical program
  • Teaching and training junior doctors and medical students
  • Participating in clinical governance activities

Person Specification


We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Renal Transplant and Vascular Access Surgeon who has a strong track record in teaching, research, and clinical governance. The successful candidate will have a caring and professional attitude and approach with patients, and will be able to work collaboratively with the Care Group team.


Requirements



  • Full registration with the General Medical Council
  • Currently on the Specialist Register for General Surgery or eligibility for inclusion within 6 months of the interview date
  • Higher professional qualification (e.g. MRCS)
  • Experience of leading clinical audits, implementing change, and monitoring compliance
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
  • Experience of teaching medical and other clinical staff and students
  • Ability to develop, motivate, and lead multidisciplinary teams
