Job Description

At SMBC, we're committed to being a trusted partner for the long term. We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Head of Financial Crime Compliance Director. This role is a critical part of our organization, and we're looking for someone who can provide expert advice and guidance on financial crime compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and guidance to the London business and support functions, as well as EMEA Local office MLROs, on financial crime compliance matters.
  • Develop and implement financial crime compliance frameworks, including enterprise-wide fraud risk management.
  • Collaborate with Regional Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Risk Officer, and other Senior Management to ensure effective working relationships and compliance with regulatory expectations.
  • Manage and review financial crime policies and procedures, ensuring they meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate and escalate breaches of financial crime controls, including employee breaches.
  • Develop and implement training programs on financial crime matters, including new and existing systems and controls.
Requirements
  • Educated to degree level with a relevant degree and professional qualification(s) in financial crime.
  • Experience in implementing enterprise-wide financial crime risk management frameworks.
  • Expertise in financial crime risk taxonomies, including fraud, AML, and CTF, including associated investigations.
  • Fully conversant with industry practice and tools used to combat fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, and other areas of financial crime.
  • Ability to provide specific and targeted advice and guidance, subject matter expertise, and to liaise with other stakeholders to ensure effective working relationships are built and maintained.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, ensuring all deadlines are met, while maintaining excellent attention to detail at all times.
