About the Job:

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Economist to join our team at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a high-quality research agenda in one or several economic areas pertinent to the EBRD, including development economics, industrial organisation, economic growth, labour economics, international trade, environmental economics, or finance.

As a Lead Research Economist, you will have the opportunity to work on complex and multi-year projects, such as randomised controlled trials or international surveys, and publish research in top-tier academic journals.

You will also be responsible for mentoring junior researchers, managing large-scale research projects, and interacting closely with other teams in the EBRD.

About the Role:

  • Develop and implement a high-quality research agenda in one or several economic areas relevant to the EBRD
  • Publish research in top-rated, peer-reviewed academic journals
  • Manage large-scale, complex, and multi-year/multi-country impact assessments and surveys
  • Independently manage one or several chapters of OCE's annual Transition Report and other research-based policy reports
  • Provide research-based guidance to senior management within EBRD and communicate externally and authoritatively on these issues

About the Team:

OCE is a team of around 17 economists and analysts who contribute to the operational, policy and strategy work of the Bank and provide intellectual leadership on the economic transformation of the regions in which the Bank invests.
