Job Title: Senior Controls Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Systems Engineer to join our team at Apex Resourcing Solutions Ltd. As a Senior Controls Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing control systems for complex technology-based buildings.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have a strong background in building automation, instrumentation, and monitoring systems. You will be responsible for producing points lists, sequence of operation documents, and specifications for control systems. Additionally, you will be required to produce plan drawings, schematics, network topology drawings, and control function diagrams as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement control systems for complex technology-based buildings
  • Produce points lists, sequence of operation documents, and specifications for control systems
  • Produce plan drawings, schematics, network topology drawings, and control function diagrams as needed
  • Review contractors' engineering proposals for compliance with design specifications and regulations
  • Carry out condition surveys and reviews of existing installations
  • Represent the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractor teams
  • Specify and attend factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, and integrated systems tests
  • Specify and attend commissioning activities during construction and completion of projects
Requirements
  • HNC/BEng in an appropriate engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status
  • Experience of building automation, instrumentation, and monitoring systems
  • Understanding of networks, network hardware, cabling, and network security
  • Understanding and ability to support control system designs and report outputs
  • Ability to keep clear and accurate records and reports
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good presentation skills
  • Familiar with multiple vendors' legacy and current products and keeps track of new and emerging products and technologies
  • Supports the commercial management of projects and fees
  • Ability to work autonomously, as part of a wider team, and leading a team
  • Good knowledge and working application of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
  • Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software
  • Good working knowledge of leading control systems products, networks, and systems including those provided by Schneider, Siemens, and Trend
  • An appreciation of ATEX regulations
