Job Title: Senior CAD Designer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CAD Designer to join our team at Sumitomo Electric. As a Senior CAD Designer, you will be responsible for designing and engineering body structure systems using Catia V5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • CAD Design and Engineering: Design and engineer body structure systems, including CAD modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Cost and Weight Targets: Support cost and weight targets throughout the design process, ensuring that designs meet or exceed targets.
  • Schedule Design Activities: Schedule design activities to meet engineering deliverables, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Styling Engagement: Support styling engagement to ensure delivery of feasible design solutions that meet manufacturing, assembly, and homologation requirements.
  • Technical Coordination: Coordinate with Principal Engineers and Project Managers to ensure technical targets, program timings, and budgetary requirements are met.
  • Prototype Workshop Support: Liaise with the Prototype Workshop to provide feasible design solutions, ensuring that designs meet all relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Workshop Activities: Support workshop activities pre, during, and post-vehicle build, ensuring that designs are implemented correctly and efficiently.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and highlight areas for continuous improvement, ensuring that designs are optimized for performance, cost, and weight.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Automotive Body Structures Experience: 15+ years of experience in automotive body structures design using Catia V5.
  • Body Structures Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of body structures, including BIW and panels.
  • Aluminum Castings and Extrusions: Experience with aluminum castings and extrusions, including design and engineering.
  • Basic Mechanical, Material, and Production Knowledge: Basic knowledge of mechanical, material, and production principles.
  • Fluency in English: Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
