About the Role

We are seeking a skilled CAD Operator to join our team at Wates Construction Ltd. As a CAD Operator, you will play a crucial role in producing 2D and 3D drawings for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and create technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Follow complex instructions and diagrams to create or modify drawings
  • Take verbal direction and implement into sketches and calculations to produce the final work
  • Produce plans, elevations, technical details, and building layouts
  • Coordinate filing, storage, and retrieval of drawings
  • Draw maps, diagrams, or plans for construction projects and structures
  • Plan and draw details of bridges, highways, and waste water management systems
  • Define problems and find solutions
  • Visit sites to gather information and collaborate with other teams
  • Work with architects, engineers, building services, and other construction workers to produce plans and drawings
  • Use software packages to convey instructions about materials, technical specifications, assembly procedures, measurements, and site requirements
Requirements
  • Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a construction-related discipline
  • Design skills and knowledge
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately
  • Knowledge of engineering science and technology
  • Thinking and reasoning skills
  • Ability to work well with others and use your initiative
  • Proficiency in using computer software and main software packages
