We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Contingencies Officer to join our team at the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). As a key member of the Greater Manchester Resilience Unit, you will play a crucial role in supporting the emergency planning, response, and resilience service to the ten Councils in Greater Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the effective development and delivery of emergency preparedness and response arrangements in Greater Manchester's Councils.
  • Work with Business Partners, team members, and GM Councils to provide a focused, civil contingencies service that ensures business and civil contingencies agendas are delivered.
  • Be part of an on-call 365/24/7 rota, providing a prompt response to emergencies within Greater Manchester and providing expert advice to Councils.
  • Develop and deliver specific programmes of work themed around particular risks, response capabilities, and resilience issues.
  • Participate in multi-agency work to build on and strengthen emergency preparedness, response, and recovery arrangements tasked out and coordinated through the Greater Manchester Resilience Forum.

About You:

We are looking for an individual with excellent communication and relationship management skills, who can work with senior managers, operational staff, and different stakeholders. You will have the drive, enthusiasm, and experience to support the shaping and delivery of services to meet the resilience needs of the GM Councils.
