The Commercial Manager position at Clarke Telecom is a key role that provides support to the Commercial Director in managing all commercial aspects of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and liaising best practice with all Clarke staff to maximise added value across all projects and disciplines.
The role involves assisting with business development, managing pre-tender estimations and pricing activities, and identifying key financial risks and issues. The Commercial Manager will also establish reporting procedures in accordance with company objectives and client requirements, and manage the customer commercial interfaces.
Key accountabilities for the role include:
- Assisting with business development and management of pre-tender estimations and pricing activities
- Liaising and communicating with internal departments on commercial best practice to maximise value across the business and increase margins
- Identification of key financial risks and issues escalation and mitigation
- Establishment of reporting procedures in accordance with company objectives and client requirements and management of the customer commercial interfaces
- Liaison with customer commercial teams to ensure Clarke Telecom obtains the best commercial outcome
- Presentation of commercial performance against targets as required
The Commercial Manager will also be responsible for scrutinising monthly cost value reconciliations, identifying trends and areas for concern, and investigating the causes of any variances. Additionally, the role requires communication of commercial awareness and driving the right commercial culture within the team.
The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of finance, reporting, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Technical experience in the Telecoms industry would be advantageous, but not essential. The ideal candidate will be able to prioritise workload and meet key deadlines in a pressurised, target-driven environment, while maintaining a customer-focused ethos.
Some travel to other UK office locations may be required, and late or weekend working may be necessary. The role offers a comprehensive understanding of cost value reconciliations, sub-contract procurement, and negotiation skills.
