About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Criticality Safety Engineer to join our Nuclear & Power Division at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in designing complex new schemes to protect our clients' assets.
Your Purpose
Working within the Nuclear and Power business, you will be supporting delivery on a number of client projects, either on behalf of AtkinsRéalis or even based within the client's organisation. The role will be versatile and encompass all stages of project delivery, from initial set up, to delivery of the finished project.
Main Responsibilities
- Enhance radiation protection and safety processes and procedures.
- Assist in the production of bids and proposals.
- Implement and contribute to our safety culture.
Requirements
- Science or engineering expertise (physics, chemistry, mechanical, chemical or process engineering, Degree qualified or equivalent).
- Understanding and experience of utilising industry recognised radiation transport codes such as; MCNP, MONK, SCALE, for k-effective calculations.
- Successful delivery of criticality assessments including development of key associated documentation such as Hazard Analysis (HAZANS), Criticality Advice Notes (CANs) and Criticality Clearance Certificates (CCCs).
- Experience working as a criticality safety engineer within multi-disciplined project teams.
- Teamwork and Leadership qualities.
- An appreciation of what's required for design, when working in safety critical industries, like Nuclear.
- An appreciation of project and client management.
- An understanding of the fundamental factors which contribute to business success.
