Noise Reduction Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to join our team at the University of Southampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing prediction methods and experimental methods for separating wheel and track noise sources and methods for modelling the noise of a passing train from its individual sources.
The post is based in the Dynamics Research Group (DG) within the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. ISVR is a leading international centre for research in acoustics and vibration and has a reputation as a leader in noise and vibration research for railways in particular.
The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent experience in vibration, acoustics or a related discipline. A detailed understanding and knowledge of a relevant area of noise and vibration and experience of modelling and use of Matlab or equivalent is also required.
Specific understanding and knowledge of railway rolling noise and vibration and/or curve squeal and relevant experience in acoustic modelling are desirable.
