Overview

The University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Palliative Care Nurse to lead their Supportive and Palliative Care Team. This permanent Band 8a post comes with a salary of £53,755 - £60,504 per annum.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity will see you manage a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists, driving clinical excellence and service development in line with Trust aims and priorities. As a leader in palliative care, you will provide expert clinical care for patients with complex needs, promote best practice, and participate in research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote clinical excellence and drive improvements for patients with palliative care needs.
  • Develop the service in line with Trust objectives and evidence-based care.
  • Lead a CNS team, developing individuals and promoting excellent patient care.
  • Set and maintain standards of care, ensuring best practice and quality improvements.
  • Participate in research and raise the profile of the service locally, nationally, and internationally.

Requirements

  • Registered nurse on relevant NMC register.
  • Educated to master's degree level or equivalent knowledge.
  • Postgraduate specialty training and experience in leadership or change management.
  • Broad awareness of wider Trust initiatives and pressures.
