Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Sustainable Farming

Rothamsted Research is seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral research scientist to join our Agroecology group. As a key member of our international team, you will contribute to a new project called "One Crop Health" that aims to reduce pesticide use in UK farming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a field sampling campaign across the UK, collecting data on pests, weeds, and diseases.
  • Work with a field team to study the ecology of agricultural fields and contribute to the development of sustainable crop protection strategies.
  • Collaborate with international partners at the universities of Copenhagen and Aarhus in Denmark.
  • Contribute to high-impact papers in world-class journals and participate in project meetings.

Requirements:

  • PhD in a biological or environmental science discipline.
  • Experience in field sampling and analysis of biological data.
  • Track record in scientific writing and communication.
  • Collaborative team member with a passion for the environment and sustainable farming.

About the Role:

This is a 5-year fixed-term appointment with a salary in the range of £31,350-£32,315 p.a. The Rothamsted Agroecology group provides a friendly and supportive environment for professional development and career progression. We offer extensive training opportunities and a chance to gain experience in management and student supervision.
