Financial Governance Role

As a key member of the Beyond the Page (BTP) team, the Financial Governance Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial stability and viability of the organization. This includes overseeing the organization's finances, identifying areas for improvement, and working closely with the Co-CEO for Operations, Finance & Governance to drive the organization forward.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accountancy and/or business, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role. They will be able to communicate complex financial information to the Board and other stakeholders, and have a deep understanding of charity fundraising and finance practices.

The Financial Governance Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the Board receives timely and accurate financial information, including an annual budget, quarterly financial reports, and Annual Accounts;
  • Explaining technicalities of accounts in plain language to ensure full understanding by non-executives;
  • Helping to develop a reserves policy and safeguarding the organization's finances;
  • Working closely with the Co-CEO for Operations, Finance, Governance to execute their responsibilities and achieve their goals;
  • Recommending accounting procedures, controls, and policies consistent with the scheme of delegation;
  • Contributing to the Board's role in giving strategic direction to the organization, setting overall strategy and policy, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets.

The successful candidate will be a team-oriented individual with a strong approach to problem-solving and management. They will have a demonstrated knowledge and experience of charity fundraising and finance practice, and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
