Job Title: Environmental Health Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Environmental Health Specialist to join our Regulatory Services Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of our residents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a high-quality service to the public, providing guidance and support to businesses to ensure compliance with current legislation and codes of practice.
  • Instigate enforcement action when necessary, preparing and serving legal notices, cautions, and prosecutions as required.
  • Liaise closely with external partner agencies and internal departments to increase the effectiveness of enforcement work.
  • Acquire and maintain specialist expertise in public protection and environmental protection, including food safety, health and safety, infectious disease control, and statutory nuisance.
  • Manage a caseload of allocated work to specific timescales and performance targets, including food hygiene inspections and investigations.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure legislative requirements are met, and participate in the National Food Hygiene Rating System.
Requirements:
  • Full clean UK driving licence and own transport.
  • Education to degree level in environmental health or equivalent qualification.
