Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Designated Doctor for Safeguarding Children to join our team at NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Board. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to take a strategic lead on safeguarding children across the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin area.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical expertise and strategic leadership on safeguarding children across the health service
  • Work closely with the ICB Safeguarding Team, local authorities, police, and other partners to ensure effective multi-agency responses to safeguarding concerns
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the health service meets its statutory responsibilities for safeguarding children
  • Provide training and education to healthcare staff on safeguarding children and young people
  • Contribute to the development of quality assurance systems across the health economy

Requirements
  • Hold consultant status or senior post with equivalent professional training and experience within paediatric services
  • Have substantial clinical experience in the field of safeguarding/child protection and substantial experience of the legislation relating to children and young people
  • Be clinically active in the field of safeguarding/child protection and have experience of teaching and training
