About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our team as a Server Specialist. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for implementing, supporting and maintaining our server and storage infrastructure.

In this role, you will work closely with other specialist Digital roles to ensure that our infrastructure is capable of supporting and providing secure, resilient and highly available services and access to all applications, tools, data and services necessary for patient care at RNOH.

You will be required to help maintain and support existing information systems and contribute to the development of new systems. This will involve working on a number of Digital Services projects, where good project management skills will be essential.

As a Server Specialist, you will also be responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of Cyber Security protection plans for the Trust and ensuring that the Trust risk is minimised at all times.

Main Duties
  • Provide lead technical expertise in Linux server support as well as assisting the team with elements of Windows Server support.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans for server and storage infrastructure.
  • Provide expertise in server and storage backup taking into account special requirements, such as database backup.
  • Ensure that there is an effective automated continual and daily monitoring system for all server and storage infrastructure components.
  • Document all servers and storage systems, describing their physical and logical implementation, admin and service accounts, security controls, applications installed, and all dependencies.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience working in an infrastructure server and storage role within a virtualised environment. You will need to have experience supporting complex server and storage infrastructures on Windows and Linux Platforms, including server clustering.

A good standard of spoken and written English is required to provide clear responses to customers and a professional standard of department performance report writing in reports to the Digital Infrastructure and Security Manager.

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary of £45,000-£60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including a contributory pension scheme and annual leave entitlement.
