Operations Supervisor Job Description

Woodland Group is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our team in Seaham. As a key member of our management team, you will work closely with the Branch Manager and operations team to drive business success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the operation through planning, direction, and control of all operational activities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Monitor activity to ensure business retention through effective communication and customer service.
  • Prepare performance progress reports for senior management on a monthly basis.
  • Handle employee absences in line with Company policy.
  • Ensure specific customer requirements are met by working with the commercial team to produce bespoke Standard Operating Procedures and Service Level Agreements.
  • Communicate health and safety and all insurance/legal compliance issues.
  • Provide constructive input to the weekly team meetings, working as a team to provide best practice outcomes for the business as a whole.
  • Work with the operations team to continually improve processes and business performance.
  • Understand and adhere to all Woodland policies and procedures relevant to the role.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as an Operations Supervisor within freight forwarding.
  • Natural ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and autonomously when required.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and open-mindedness in response to changing priorities and challenges.
  • Self-motivation, drive, and ambition to achieve great success and build a great place to work.
