Quality Documentation Manager

A key role exists within Liberty Steel UK group of companies to support clients' documentation requirements and Quality Management Systems. This position is crucial in leading all quality documentation activities, including preparation, generation, submission, and approval, in support of commercial orders.

The successful applicant will join a company with a world-class manufacturing capability and a skilled workforce with a long history and global recognition. The role requires significant experience within a similar field, preferably with a comprehensive working knowledge of line pipe manufacture operations, inspection, non-destructive testing, typical specifications, and mechanical testing.

The job holder will have a logical approach to their work with attention to detail and exemplary accuracy. They will be responsible for managing and directing the day-to-day activities of the Quality Documentation Department, ensuring the availability of sub-supplier documentation, and evaluating documentation requirements of customer specifications.

Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Documentation:
    1. Manage and direct the day-to-day activities of the Quality Documentation Department.
    2. Ensure sub-supplier documentation is available when required and complies with agreed customer and technical requirements.
    3. Evaluate the documentation requirements of customer specifications at enquiry, bid, and contract stages.
    4. Manage and direct the preparation, review, and issue of quality documentation in accordance with vendor documentation requirements and timescales for submission to the customer for approval.
    5. Manage, approve, and issue the preparation of internal test cutting diagrams and pipe stencilling instructions.
    6. Review and endorse plate certificates, welding consumables, and paint certificates for releases for use.
    7. Manage and maintain Document Control Database, reviewing, approving, issuing, and archiving documentation.
    8. Prepare and attain third-party approval of welder qualifications.
    9. Record and upload quality documentation onto project issues for storage and access.
    10. Manage onsite archive storeroom, allocating shelves for storage and disposing of out-of-date records.
  2. Quality Assurance:
  3. Provide support to the Section Manager – QA & Documentation by conducting audits as dictated by the internal audit schedule and/or any ad hoc process audit needs.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive working knowledge of line pipe manufacture operations, inspection, non-destructive testing, typical specifications, and mechanical testing. They will have a logical approach to their work with attention to detail and exemplary accuracy. Good written and oral communication skills are essential, alongside being comfortable working across all Microsoft Office packages.
