We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Transport Planner to join our team at Smartsearch Recruitment. As an Assistant Transport Planner, you will play a crucial role in planning, coordinating, and optimizing transport routes to ensure timely and efficient delivery of products to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Dispatcher to design and coordinate optimal transport routes for HGV drivers, ensuring swift and reliable delivery of products.
  • Engage with customers to keep them informed and satisfied regarding deliveries and collections.
  • Efficiently manage paperwork, from processing documents to ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Oversee a variety of administrative tasks, including invoicing, filing, and handling phone inquiries, to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Take charge of managing service requests and responding promptly to site breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Proactively plan and schedule preventative maintenance and annual inspections for HGV's and cranes, keeping the fleet in top condition.
  • Be a proactive team player, ready to tackle additional tasks and contribute wherever needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a Transport Administrator, Assistant Transport Planner, Dispatcher / Coordinator or similar role would be advantageous but consideration also given to candidates from other backgrounds who have excellent administrative and customer service skills.
  • High attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft office and other systems).
  • Excellent communication skills.
