About the Role

San Carlo Alderley Edge is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bar Manager to join their team. As a Bar Manager, you will be responsible for leading the bar team and ensuring that the bar area is run efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hold daily shift briefs to ensure that the bar team is aware of their responsibilities and tasks for the day.
  • Hold weekly bar meetings to discuss rotas, stocks, sales, and events, and to ensure that the bar team is working together effectively.
  • Effectively organise and run shifts as a duty manager, ensuring that the bar area is well-staffed and that customers are receiving excellent service.
  • Monitor and drive Spend Per Head in the bar department, ensuring that sales are maximised and that the bar is operating within budget.
  • Ensure that all bar consumables are kept to par and are within budget spend, and that stock levels are maintained at optimal levels.
  • Take responsibility for all bar stock control, including wastage, ordering, invoicing, and maintenance, and ensure that the bar team is aware of their responsibilities in this area.
  • Ensure that a two-week rota is available for the bar team at all times, working a month in advance for forecast rota, and that the bar team is aware of their shift patterns and responsibilities.
  • Arrange all training sessions for new starters, and ensure that they are fully trained and competent in their roles.
  • Arrange training sessions for existing staff to increase product knowledge and to ensure that they are aware of any changes to procedures or policies.
  • Regularly hold 1 to 1 reviews with each bar team member to encourage career development and progression, and to ensure that they are aware of their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Liaise with the General Manager for any guidance and to communicate any training or development needs.
  • Ensure that team staff levels are assessed weekly, and actively recruit if needed, to ensure that the bar area is well-staffed and that customers are receiving excellent service.
  • Take a lead on all bar recruitment, and ensure that an excellent candidate experience is provided throughout the process.
  • Onboard new staff, including full restaurant training and all CPL compliance, and ensure that they are fully trained and competent in their roles.
  • Ensure that the bar department has an up-to-date Talent Pipeline with training needs and succession plans, and that the bar team is aware of their roles and responsibilities in this area.
  • Ensure that health checks are conducted once a month, with an action plan produced and delegated amongst the team to ensure completion, and that the bar team is aware of their responsibilities in this area.
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety policies are met, including all legislative and licencing requirements, and that the bar team is aware of their responsibilities in this area.
  • Undertake all bartender responsibilities where relevant/needed, and ensure that the bar team is aware of their responsibilities in this area.
Requirements
  • 2 years' experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of success.
  • Team management experience, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • A proactive self-starter, with the ability to work independently with good judgement and minimal direction.
