Job Advert
Mencap is seeking a Support Worker to join our team in Chelmsford. As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities.
You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you'll play a vital role in their life.
This is a four-person service where most of the guys who live there are very independent, and need little to moderate support around personal care or medication. You will be supporting them with daily tasks such as cooking and cleaning, going out in the community to do their shopping or to take part in activities they wish to do, and travelling to and from appointments.
You will be working with a small team who have known the guys for years and are therefore very experienced.
What we're looking for:
• A genuine passion for supporting others.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Contract options:
• 30 hours Part-time: flexible hours based on availability.
Shift times:
• Days: Between 07:00 to 14.30, or 9 to 18.00 or 14.30 to 22:00
There is also a sleep-in available (22.00 to 07.00) where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £62.45.
Benefits
Why join Mencap?
• 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time) + a variety of benefits including pension and holiday buying options.
• Ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills.
• A supportive and inclusive work environment where your contributions are valued.
