About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Lung Oncology Support Worker to join our team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Lung Oncology team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to individuals diagnosed with lung cancer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists to support patients and ensure their care is personalized.
  • Provide telephone support to patients, assisting with queries and signposting them to relevant healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct holistic needs assessments and care planning, seeing patients in clinic and the chemotherapy day unit.
  • Ensure patients are aware of wellbeing services and support available to them, and refer them for pre-habilitation and rehabilitation services as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the Lung Oncology CNS team, including data collection and analysis.

Requirements

  • Currently employed in a relevant healthcare or social care background, with experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to work to clear protocols and guidelines, and prioritize tasks under pressure.
  • Basic computer skills and experience, with ability to learn new systems.
