About the Role

The East London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Mental Health Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our Mental Health Support Teams, you will play a vital role in delivering evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.

This exciting opportunity is part of a wider integrated schools pathway service in the localities, where the team is working to reduce health inequalities in communities where these are most prominent. You will be working closely with schools and other external partners to address their most prominent needs, by implementing whole schools approaches and targeted interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a wide range of interventions, projects, and system change with the aim of whole school and whole community approaches to supporting young people's mental health.
  • Work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness within the staff group.
  • Conduct mental health assessments and screenings of children and young people.
  • Make an assessment of risk and to record and communicate it appropriately and to take appropriate action to mitigate or manage.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1yr 'Education Mental Health Practitioner' or IAPT 'Child Wellbeing Practitioner' postgraduate diploma.
  • Post-qualification experience as an EMHP and experience of working in schools.
  • Experience of working with children and young people, their families, and others in educational and health settings with mild to moderate mental health problems.
  • Experience of delivering specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people, or their families (Guided Self-Help, CBT, parent work).
