About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Actuary Capital Model Specialist to join our team at JJA - James Joseph Associates. As a key member of our actuarial team, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing our capital models, ensuring they are accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Collection and Testing: Collect and test data for the capital model, ensuring it is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Model Maintenance and Calibration: Run and maintain calibration tools, update the internal model with new data and parameters, and perform quality checks on the outputs.
  • Issue Resolution and Testing: Take a lead role in solving issues related to model changes and running tests on the model.
  • Process Management: Ensure processes around the internal model are well maintained and function efficiently.
  • Version Control and Documentation: Implement strong version control for the model and keep high-quality documentation of the model and its processes.
  • Regulatory Submissions: Run and document the model for regulatory submissions, such as LCR, IMO Return, and ORSA.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the Finance team, Underwriting, and Risk.
  • Deadline Management: Work under tight deadlines to produce accurate results.
Requirements
  • Actuarial Expertise: Actuarial expertise at the level of a UK FIA-qualified actuary, along with strong IT skills.
  • Platform Proficiency: Proficiency in either Igloo or Tyche is essential as the models are built on these platforms.
  • Coding Skills: Coding skills in Excel VBA and R is preferred.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Knowledge of either General or Professional Lines Insurance, with insurance data management experience.
  • Regulatory Frameworks: Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, including Lloyd's, PRA, and Solvency II requirements.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to those with some knowledge of the subject.
