About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Actuary Capital Model Specialist to join our team at JJA - James Joseph Associates. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of our capital model, ensuring it meets the needs of our clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the capital model, ensuring it is accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather data and requirements for the model
  • Design and implement calibration tools to ensure the model is running efficiently
  • Lead the team in solving issues related to model changes and running tests on the model
  • Ensure processes around the internal model are well maintained and function efficiently
  • Implement strong version control for the model
  • Test model outputs, including investigating issues and updating model code as needed
  • Keep high-quality documentation of the model and its processes
  • Run and document the model for regulatory submissions, such as LCR, IMO Return, and ORSA
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the Finance team, Underwriting, and Risk
  • Work under tight deadlines to produce accurate results
Requirements
  • Actuarial expertise at the level of a UK FIA-qualified actuary, along with strong IT skills
  • Proficiency in WTW Igloo is essential as the model is built on this platform
  • Coding skills in Excel VBA and R is preferred
  • Knowledge of General Insurance, with a preference for experience in Motor classes and insurance data management
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, including Lloyd's, PRA, and Solvency II requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to those with some knowledge of the subject
