Job Title: Senior Care Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our team at Oxendon House Care Home. As a Senior Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents, promoting their independence, dignity, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality care and support to residents, including assisting with daily living activities, medication administration, and promoting independence.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating excellent leadership skills, and supporting other team members to maintain high standards of care.
  • Conduct daily medication rounds, document accurately, and ensure compliance with medication audits.
  • Participate in shift handovers, promoting good practice, and challenging poor practice from other team members.
  • Investigate complaints and concerns, and ensure one-to-ones are conducted with all care and support team members every two months.
Requirements:
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., Registered Nurse or NVQ minimum level 3).
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a Care Assistant in a residential or nursing home setting.
  • Awareness of the principles of Person-Centred Care Planning.
  • Knowledge of the prevention of abuse of vulnerable adults, recognition of signs of abuse, and procedures to follow in the event of an allegation of abuse.
  • Live within 30 minutes of the Home.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Two years' experience in a similar role in a nursing home.
  • At least one year's experience working in a similar role in a residential or nursing home; or
  • At least two years' experience in a Senior Care role in a residential or nursing home.
  • One year's experience of caring for residents living with dementia.
  • NVQ Level 4 in Adult Health and Social Care or above.
  • Knowledge of National Care Standards Act 2000.
  • Conducting effective person-centred one-to-ones.
  • Experience of managing a team.
