About the Role

Holtec International, a leading global supplier of equipment and systems for the energy industry, is seeking a highly skilled Human Factors Specialist to join its multidisciplinary team of engineers designing the next generation nuclear power station.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author human factors assessments of the SMR design and develop the Human Factors chapter in the Safety Case for submission to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) for use in the Generic Design Assessment (GDA).
  • Build strong relationships with the US SMR Operations & Safety Lead and contribute to the development of the Human Factors chapter.
  • Deliver Human Factors assessments, documents, and plans, and help develop the HF chapter of the safety case for the SMR-160+ GDA.
  • Coach and mentor team members to develop their technical and personal skills, enabling them to deliver high-quality results.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external organizations, including the nuclear regulators.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in an engineering or science-related discipline.
  • Experience in Human Factors Task and Error analysis, HRA, and Human Based Safety Claims.
  • Ability to work independently and balance competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to engage credibly within and external to the business.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, able to present at multiple organizational levels and to external regulatory stakeholders.
  • Able to create confidence through crafting strong justifications and arguments.
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
