About the Job

We are seeking an experienced specialist in microbiology to join our close-knit team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests autonomously and demonstrating an understanding of the scientific basis for tests and disease processes.

The ideal candidate will have HCPC registration and completed a Microbiology Specialist Portfolio or equivalent. They will also have experience of working in a clinical pathology laboratory and be familiar with health and safety legislation pertaining to clinical laboratories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing laboratory tests and providing technical advice to nurses and clinicians
  • Recording inventory management and ensuring accurate stock management
  • Working on a shift rota, covering 24 hours, seven days a week
