Safety and Risk Management Opportunity

Norse Commercial Services Limited has an exciting opportunity for a Risk and Health Management Director to join its Exeter-based team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's safety, health, and risk management strategy, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development of a comprehensive safety and risk management framework across the organization.
  • Representing the company at senior levels with regulatory bodies, contractors, partners, and clients to build effective relationships.
  • Acting as a CDM Advisor and Principal Designer on behalf of clients, providing guidance and advice to clients' competent persons, and carrying out client duties under relevant legislation.
  • Providing expert guidance and advice to clients on managing asbestos, legionella, and Radon Gas, including policy development, implementation, monitoring, and training needs identification.
  • Evaluating and mitigating potential risks associated with asbestos, legionella, and Radon Gas in individual buildings, specifying suitable contractors and consultants, and project managing their work.
  • Establishing and integrating health, safety, and risk management key performance indicators, reporting across the company, and delivering regular performance reports to various meetings.
  • Implementing programs of management-level audits in respect of the health and safety management system.
  • Ensuring directors, senior managers, and colleagues are aware of risks relevant to their parts of the business.
  • Accountable for ensuring organizational compliance with all statutory regulations, industry codes of practice, policies, and procedures, and preparing the organization for changes in legislation relating to H&S and risk management issues.

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience of Construction, Health and Safety Legislation, the Management of Hazards/Risks associated with Asbestos, Legionella, and Radon.
  • Demonstrable experience of providing Health & Safety Consultancy Services.
  • Chartered Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), or Certified Membership of the Institute of Risk Management (CMIRM), ideally with 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in an Occupational Health and Safety-related discipline.
  • P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings Qualification, or willingness to work towards obtaining qualification.
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety (or equivalent) and Professional Membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards obtaining qualification.
  • Full UK Driver's License to meet travel requirements for the role.
