About the Role

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead Pharmacist to join our senior pharmacy management team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading and delivering the day-to-day clinical pharmacy service to surgical wards, developing and implementing clinical pharmacy services, and providing leadership and supervision to Foundation Pharmacists and Band 6/7 Clinical Pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and Deliver Clinical Pharmacy Services
    Develop and implement clinical pharmacy services to surgical wards, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
  2. Develop and Implement Clinical Pharmacy KPIs
    Establish and maintain a comprehensive set of Clinical Pharmacy KPIs to measure the quality and effectiveness of clinical pharmacy services within the pharmacy department and the wider Trust.
  3. Support Medicines Policy Development
    Collaborate with the Chief and Deputy Chief Pharmacists to develop and implement Trust Medicines policies, systems, and processes, ensuring alignment with national guidelines and standards.
  4. Lead on Clinical Service Development
    Develop and implement clinical services to support the Trust's Medicines Optimisation agenda, working closely with other colleagues, including the Medication Safety Officer and Antimicrobial Pharmacist.
  5. Provide Leadership and Supervision
    Lead and supervise a team of Foundation Pharmacists and Band 6/7 Clinical Pharmacists, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical pharmacy services.
  6. Undertake Research and Development
    Conduct research, audits, and development activities to ensure the continual progression of clinical pharmacy services, aligning with national targets and standards.

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPHC)
  • Postgraduate Pharmacy Clinical Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Independent Prescribing Qualification (or working towards)
