Deputy Charge Nurse Leadership Role

Haddington, East Lothian, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time
About the Role

NHS Scotland is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment, where every employee feels valued and empowered to excel. We strive to create a workplace that reflects the communities we serve, and we welcome applications from individuals from all backgrounds.

As part of our efforts to promote work-life balance, we are introducing a reduced working week of 37 hours, effective from 1 April 2024. This change will not affect salaries, but part-time staff will experience a proportional reduction in working hours. You may be required to work additional hours temporarily, for which you will be compensated until your service area adapts to the new schedule.

We are dedicated to supporting employees with disabilities, long-term conditions, or neurodiverse needs by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for the delivery of patient care in a 24-bedded step-down ward.
  • Assume managerial responsibility for these wards in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse, overseeing staff supervision and deployment.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess care needs, evaluate care plans, and ensure high-quality care delivery.
  • Maintain clinical and staff governance, ensuring the highest standards of care and staff well-being.
Requirements

This role requires a PVG Scheme membership or record. If you are not a current member, you will need to apply to Disclosure Scotland and meet the necessary requirements before starting in the position.

Please note that this is a part-time position, and the salary will be pro-rata.

For more information on the role and the skills and experience required, please refer to the job description and person specification. If you have any questions, please contact Nadia Rasool at rasool.
