Functional Assessor

St Austell, Cornwall, United Kingdom Advo Health Full time
About the Role

As a Functional Assessor at Advo Health, you will play a crucial role in the functional and disability assessments process, a service that touches the lives of millions of people in the UK.

You will work autonomously to assess the cases of people who are applying for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefit or a Work Capability Assessment (WCA) as part of the DWPs Health Assessment and Advisory Services (HAAS). This will involve holding consultations and writing fair and accurate reports.

You will only work to assess people for PIP or a WCA, not both. As part of your application process, we will advise you on which service you will work on and discuss what your training will involve.

You do not need to have worked as a Functional Assessor previously. We can support you in your career change with our accredited training programme and dedicated support structure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Holding telephone, video or in-person consultations with people who are applying for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefit or a Work Capability Assessment (WCA).
  • Assessing a variety of complex conditions and impairments.
  • Using your strong verbal communication skills and write high quality, fair and accurate assessment reports using a special IT system.
  • Working with your line manager to advance your own professional development and career as a Functional Assessor.
Essential Experience and Qualifications

You must hold full registration with one of the following professional bodies:

  • Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Our goal is for Advo Health to be a workplace that creates a sense of belonging for everyone. This means that we actively work to promote equal opportunities across all that we do, including when we recruit new talent.

We take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously, and work to promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk of harm. Some patients may be unable to uphold their rights and protect themselves from harm or abuse and we have a responsibility to ensure that those patients receive high quality care, and that their rights are upheld, including their right to be safe.

Your role will require you to work collaboratively to safeguard children, young people, and adults-at-risk.

As part of our Safer Recruitment procedures, this role will require a criminal reference check.
