About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Orthoptist to join our team at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


As a Senior Orthoptist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the management of ocular motility disorders. This role requires advanced experience in all aspects of orthoptics, including assessment of children with special needs and genetic anomalies.


You will be working in our paediatric and adult orthoptic clinics, where you will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills in neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma, and AMD clinics. Your excellent communication skills and leadership abilities will enable you to work effectively as part of a team and manage the workload of other staff.

Key Responsibilities



  • Delivering high-quality patient care in the management of ocular motility disorders
  • Assessing and managing adult and paediatric patients referred to the orthoptic department
  • Participating in the teaching of undergraduate orthoptic students and multidisciplinary professionals
  • Deputising for the head orthoptist and managing other staff
  • Carrying out off-site community orthoptic services

Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A recognised clinical teaching qualification (PTLLS, CTLLS)
  • Advanced experience in all aspects of orthoptics, including assessment of children with special needs and genetic anomalies
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities
  • The ability to maintain clear and accurate patient records
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team
