About the Role

Teaching Personnel are seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant for a Secondary Pupil Referral Unit in the Bolton area. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate individual to make a positive impact on young lives.

The Behaviour Support Assistant will be an integral part of our team, providing essential support to students within our Pupil Referral Unit. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with secondary students in a behaviour support role or a related field, or a relevant degree or qualification in education, psychology, counselling, or a related field.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to tailor individual support plans, collaborate with fellow staff, parents, and external agencies, track student progress, and celebrate achievements.

Responsibilities

The Behaviour Support Assistant will:

  • Establish strong, nurturing connections with students, inspiring trust and encouraging positive behaviour through understanding and empathy.
  • Implement strategies and interventions to help students manage their emotions, develop coping skills, and make positive choices in and out of the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers to tailor individual support plans that cater to the unique needs and abilities of each student.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic and consistent approach to student support.
  • Track student progress and celebrate achievements, no matter how small, to foster a sense of accomplishment and motivation.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with secondary students in a behaviour support role or a related field.
  • A relevant degree or qualification in education, psychology, counselling, or a related field.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse situations and respond to the varying needs of our students on a day-to-day basis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Team Teach qualified or have classroom experience within an SEN/SEMH provision.
