Council Tax Specialist

**Job Title:** Council Tax Adviser
We are seeking a highly skilled Council Tax Adviser to join our team in Haringey. As a key member of our revenue management team, you will play a critical role in determining the correct liable party for Council Tax, Business Rates and BID levy.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience within a revenues team, preferably in billing, and be proficient in the use of NEC and I@W processing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine the correct liable party for Council Tax, Business Rates and BID levy
- Provide high-quality professional advice, guidance and support in respect of Council Tax, Business Rates or BID levy to customers and external partners
- Assist in the review of discounts, reliefs or exemptions to maximise revenue due to the council and identify and reduce incidences of fraud
- Attend magistrates court liability order and other committal hearings in support of the Court Officer/Team Manager, assisting with the gathering of evidence prior to the hearing and interviewing customer who attend the hearing
- Accurately calculate and create refunds where overpayments have been made
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience within a revenues team (preferably billing)
- Proficient in the use of NEC and I@W processing systems
- Ability to administer Council Tax and respond to all enquiries in line with legislation and council policy
- Ability to negotiate payment plans on Council Tax debt
- Ability to identify and sign post/support vulnerable and struggling customers
Estimated Salary: £22 per hour (umbrella). This is a full-time contract with a scope for extension working full time hours.
