About the Role:

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Wales and West of England Development Manager. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in Wales and the West of England, including local authorities, businesses, and communities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development of GWR's relationships with key stakeholders in Wales and the West of England.
  • Listening to communities and stakeholder partners, understanding needs, issues, and aspirations, and aligning the agenda to our business.
  • Reviewing, responding, and influencing stakeholder plans for the economy, climate change, active travel, and tourism.
  • Identifying and bringing forward new opportunities for improving services, developing pitches, and producing business cases to support investment, securing new money into the business for enhancements.
  • Developing GWR's response to local strategies and plans, including transport and planning strategies and local investment plans, new stations fund bids, and other initiatives.
  • Coordinating GWR's inputs to the rail industry-driven strategies, including long-term planning frameworks and funding programs and initiatives.
  • Scoping the development of masterplans and investment strategies for key stations and premises, coordinating inputs from across the business.
  • Working with the Head of Public Affairs to support engagement with politicians, advisors, and civil servants, providing briefings and attending meetings as required, and working closely with GWR's Senior Community Manager to support GWR work in the community, particularly around inclusion and diversity.

Requirements:

  • Able to build and maintain great relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Passionate about developing and enhancing the rail network.
  • Experienced in putting together successful business cases for investment.
  • Driven and determined to meet projects and deliver betterment.
  • Numerate, logical, and have excellent attention to detail.
  • Personable, approachable, and able to lead internal and external presentations to secure support.
  • Able to skillfully balance priorities and solve problems efficiently.

About the Location:

You will be based in Wales or West of England and able to work regularly from a GWR office location for at least part of the week and to attend meetings at locations across the wider GWR network and stakeholder offices as appropriate.

Working Pattern:

Office hours. Occasionally may require out of hours meetings/calls with stakeholders or team members.

Additional Information:

An ability to communicate in Welsh would be an advantage.
