We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Energy and Carbon Specialist. As a key member of our Climate Change Team, you will play a crucial role in helping us achieve our goal of becoming a net-zero carbon council.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and delivering our energy programme and carbon management initiatives. This will involve working closely with other teams within the council, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure the decarbonisation of the energy sector aligns with our delivery of inclusive and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver the council's energy programme and carbon management initiatives
  • Work closely with other teams within the council and external stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and communication
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on energy and carbon issues to the council and external stakeholders
  • Manage the council's Energy Officer and ensure the successful delivery of the energy programme

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in energy and carbon management
  • Strong IT skills and ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, members, and stakeholders
  • Passion for the work of councils and the role of local democracy
