About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer to join our team at Legal & General. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions for our pensions administration system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior actuaries to understand pension methodology and translate it into a feature-driven product.
  • Work closely with the product manager, business actuaries, and architects to develop a robust, production-quality code.
  • Engage in peer code reviews and work constructively to continually improve the code base.
  • Provide value throughout the software development lifecycle, analyzing system operational processes to determine where software development can aid automation and reduce operational and model risk.
  • Deliver full unit test coverage of code, drive, and own system tests where appropriate, and drive business testing.

Requirements

  • Experience in building financial engineering systems using bespoke software solutions, with a focus on validation of results, preferably in the pensions and annuity area.
  • C# software development experience and coding skills, with knowledge of open-source libraries, C++, Java, VBA, Python, GUI design, and/or development.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with experience with XLW or xlWings an advantage.
  • Knowledge of software development in analytical and model risk scenarios an advantage.
  • Ability to address and use initiative to deliver solutions to technical and business problems.
  • Experience in software or database systems development and/or support, with experience of project life cycles and complex product installation, customization, and commissioning – as well as validation testing an advantage.
  • Capacity to estimate, manage own work, and keep within plan.
  • Continuous Delivery toolkit; Source control, issue management software (Subversion, JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
