Job Overview

Sodexo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Chef to join our team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and customer service.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in cooking on a large scale, preparing approximately 1000 meals per day. Previous experience in school catering and staff supervision is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all legal and safety requirements in the kitchen.
  • Assist with food preparation and presentation to company standards, ensuring high-quality cooking and service.
  • Store deliveries properly, maintain stock rotation, and follow delivery procedures.
  • Direct staff to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, especially at the end of the day.
  • Serve customers promptly and maintain good customer service.
  • Replenish food and equipment, ensuring freshness, flavor, and presentation.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks, including food temperatures, cleaning, and stock takes.
  • Follow guidelines for special dietary needs, allergens, and food safety.
  • Promote teamwork and report any issues to management.
  • Participate in training, comply with policies, and assist in staff development.
  • Support school events, including evening and weekend functions.
  • Help with setup and clean up for events and handle emergency tasks as needed.

**Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. This means that you get paid equal amounts of pay every month. Further information will be supplied at interview stage.**
