About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Risk Management professional to join our team as the Head of Risk Management at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the design and delivery of risk management initiatives across the Trust, ensuring risk management systems and processes are in place and working effectively.
  • Enhance the risk culture from ward-to-board and strengthen the Trust's internal control environment.
  • Play a key role in enhancing the Trust's risk management capabilities, responding quickly and efficiently to deliver against tight deadlines.
  • Hold responsibility and accountability for the quality and content of work delivered, including risk management reports and papers.
Requirements
  • Master's qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience working at a senior level in a specialist area.
  • Risk management qualification or equivalent experience from a recognised professional body (Institute of Risk Management).
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of risk management.
  • Extensive knowledge of governance and risk frameworks, particularly but not exclusively within the NHS.
  • Ability to exercise independent and professional judgement across a range of risk areas.
  • Leading healthcare specific risk management work with the NHS or other public sector.
  • Experience of managing a Corporate Risk Register and Board Assurance Framework.
  • Experience of leading and managing teams.
  • Extensive experience of delivering training.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent presentation skills; able to confidently deliver to any staff group both internal and external to the organisation.
  • Skilled in analysing and interpreting complex and highly specialised information from various sources to measure themes, trends and improvement.
  • Capable of applying sustained concentration and focus on priorities and outcomes within a diverse workload.
Work-Related Circumstances
  • Ability to travel between sites and attend off-site meetings.
  • Ability to manage a range of responsibilities simultaneously, giving priority to all dimensions of the role appropriately, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty and remain resilient in times of change.
