About this opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our team in the Psychiatric Liaison Team and Psychiatric Decisions Unit at Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Psychiatric Decisions Unit (PDU), at the nearby Oleaster Centre.

The successful applicant will work closely with doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to provide high-quality care to service users, providing specialist psychological screening, assessment, and brief interventions.

The team aims to support and enhance the care of service users, and the successful applicant will be part of a dynamic and supportive Acute and Urgent Care Psychological Service within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

  • Offering assessment and psychological treatment for patients;
  • Supporting department staff in offering basic psychological support in their routine clinical practice;
  • Provide Reflective practice and case formulation to the wider MDT
  • Providing audit and service evaluation;
  • You will represent the service both nationally and internationally in our collaborative work as appropriate.

About the role

The successful applicant will be a qualified clinical or counselling psychologist with a British Psychological Society accredited Doctoral Level postgraduate professional training course in clinical or counselling psychology.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a physical health setting, although this is not essential. They will need to have experience of working across the lifespan with individuals and families, and have experience of working across systems and with different professional specialties.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for entry onto the British Psychological Society Register of Chartered Psychologists (or Statement of Equivalence).
  • Current registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with HCPC.
