Position Overview

In this role, you will be an integral part of a skilled team dedicated to providing comprehensive asbestos testing and advisory services for Lancashire County Council and its external partners. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct thorough analyses of bulk samples submitted for asbestos testing, ensuring compliance with legal obligations related to asbestos management.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform detailed analysis of bulk samples for asbestos in line with HSG248, LAB 30, and CM2 operating protocols, adhering to the established Quality System.
  • Prepare and disseminate analytical reports, and assist in the creation of survey and air testing documentation.
  • Support the application of the UKAS Quality System within the laboratory.
  • Address general inquiries from both internal and external clients regarding sample submissions and provide expert guidance.
  • Maintain and update electronic asbestos registers to reflect any modifications, including condition assessments, removal activities, and new findings.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the BOHS P401 qualification in asbestos bulk sample analysis and demonstrate relevant technical training and experience in an asbestos testing laboratory environment.

Additional Skills

  • Proven ability to work autonomously with specialized systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Laboratory Information Management Systems, and asbestos-related databases.
  • Familiarity with UKAS Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles with minimal supervision.
