Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Support Worker to join the Theatre team at St Hugh's Hospital.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Assisting the RGN/ODP in delivering the highest standard of patient care by undertaking non-clinical duties under supervision.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the Theatre Department and the care and maintenance of equipment in line with Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Liaising between Theatres and the ward to escort patients to Theatre prior to their operation.

Job Responsibilities

Duties include:

  • To be aware of and familiar with all appropriate Hospital policies and procedures.
  • To be aware of and maintain high standards of infection control by following appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Participating in providing optimum patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or ODP and raising any issues of concern.

Key Accountabilities

Key accountabilities include:

  • Ensuring any accidents/incidents are reported and recorded according to hospital policy/procedure.
  • Ensuring that the theatre department is clean and tidy at all times.
  • Assisting nursing staff in putting out instruments for the following day's operating list.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • The ability to plan and control the use of resources.

Desirable

  • NVQ in Health and Social Care.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in management of stock control.

Desirable

  • Experience in Operating Theatres.

Personal Qualities

Essential

  • Organised.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
