Job Purpose

The management of assets to ensure customer needs are met in terms of delivery and quality. The primary purpose of the role is to improve reliability scores by ensuring all plant and equipment is maintained sufficiently to maximise efficient and safe operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adopt a safety-first approach to everything that you do within the workplace and openly challenge unsafe practices when observed.
  • Positively participate in the performance management process.
  • Adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and relevant Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure that all plant and machinery is repaired promptly to maintain optimal production levels.
  • Ensure that all machine changes are carried out correctly and promptly to prevent downtime.
  • To assist in the investigation of complaints, both internally and externally, and help in the prevention of recurrences.
  • Be proficient in the use of computer systems and software.
  • Complete all documentation as required by GMP, including filling in machine logs and maintaining a file of machine repairs and modifications.
  • Assist in the preparation of quotations by providing relevant information and guidance.
  • Actively participate in the daily shift handover meetings to ensure seamless communication.
  • Assist with training and the preparation of training programmes when required to upskill the team.
  • Ensure that the Planned Preventative Maintenance System is implemented and followed to prevent equipment failure.
  • Ensure that the stock of authorised spares is maintained and advise on spares that are required to prevent delays.
  • Support with improvement projects as required to drive business growth.
  • Ensure adequate measures are in place to manage possible foreign body contamination or asset damage created by misuse of hand tools, machine parts, screws, bearings, etc. used by the team on a daily basis.
  • Ability to deliver effective engineering solutions to meet business needs.
  • Be proactive in searching for engineering improvements to improve efficiencies and quality.
  • Take ownership of your own personal development by bridging skills/knowledge gaps for the current role and any aspirational roles.
  • Consistently challenge existing practices and behaviours where these deviate from the organisation's existing processes and values.
  • Address all things engineering with enthusiasm and curiosity and have an open democratic approach.
  • Undertake any other duties, projects or responsibilities as required by your Line manager.
  • Ability to build rapport with production colleagues and work collaboratively as a team.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload to deliver business needs.
Qualifications & Experience

An engineering qualification is required.

A minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience in a similar industry is required.

Proficiency in the use of computer systems and software is required.

Lean knowledge is preferred but not essential.

Multi-skilled individuals are preferred.

Success Criteria

Members of the Engineering team will be measured on the availability, efficiency and effectiveness of all plant and equipment in accordance with production plans.

Engineers will be evidenced adopting a continuous improvement approach to asset performance and support improvement projects.
