MQ is the first major charity to fund mental health research. By connecting scientists with supporters, we strive to understand mental health, improve treatments and prevent mental illness.

Role Overview

This role focuses on generating income from grant making trusts and foundations. You will achieve this by researching funding sources, creating tailored applications, maintaining excellent communications with existing and potential donor trusts and foundations, delivering an agreed income target as well as growing funding from these sources.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop a pipeline of trust and foundation prospects to generate new income and multiyear grants.
  • Lead the development of fundraising proposals for priority projects, including research partnership opportunities.
  • Conduct targeted research to establish high value prospects using existing networks, the MQ database, search engines and referrals.
  • Report on performance against agreed budgets and targets.
  • Cultivate relationships with senior volunteers, including MQ Trustees and other Development Team colleagues.
Requirements

We are seeking an experienced trusts and foundations fundraiser with good knowledge of the sector. Key skills and qualifications include:

  • Experience in trusts and foundation fundraising, demonstrating growth in expertise and results.
  • A good understanding of the trusts and foundations fundraising environment and associated processes.
  • The ability to identify funding opportunities and match them with suitable trusts.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and relationship-management skills at all levels.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and spot opportunities to grow and develop relationships.
